Four injured in alcohol related accident

On Behalf of | Oct 6, 2012 | Drunk Driving-DUI Charges

DUI charges are typically taken seriously by authorities and accused individuals alike. Someone who is convicted of drunk driving can face jail time, financial fines and a damaged reputation. Illinois is known as one of the toughest states for drivers accused of traffic violations, such as DUI. It is important for any motorist accused of an alcohol related accident to see the advice of a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.

Illinois authorities recently accused a young man of running a stop sign and slamming into another vehicle. They further claim that the man operated his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. According to them, the man’s blood alcohol content was tested at more than two times the legal limit.

Police also maintain that they discovered open containers of alcohol in the man’s vehicle. Reportedly, the man’s pickup truck collided with an SUV carrying three occupants, all of whom were injured. The three men were taken to local medical facilities to receive treatment for their injuries. The alleged drunk driver was also transported to a hospital to be observed for any ill effects from the car accident.

In the wake of the accident, officials brought DUI charges against the driver of the pickup truck. The driver will now need to prepare a criminal defense against the allegations. The man’s attorney more than likely will review whether or not proper procedures were followed by law enforcement personnel when the man’s blood alcohol content was tested. The defendant will have an opportunity to challenge the testimony and physical evidence offered against him.
