Man faces drug crime charge after police enter Illinois home

Two men are facing criminal charges after an Illinois drug bust. Officers involved in the bust allegedly saw one of the men involved in a drug transaction with a number of people. When the man noticed officers, they claim he ran inside of a residence and blocked its entrance with two-by-fours, potentially making it more difficult for the officers to enter. He is now facing a drug crime charge.

Officers say they yelled that they had a search warrant and forced their way into the home. One of the men reportedly ordered two pit bulls to attack the officers. Both animals were killed by officers. Another man inside the home purportedly ordered a third pit bull to attack the authorities, and that animal was killed as well.

Officers reportedly uncovered heroin and crack cocaine inside the home. Both men have been arrested. The man that authorities say they saw involved in drug deals was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and several other charges. The other man faces misdemeanor assault charges.

When a drug crime charge is leveled against an Illinois resident, it can affect them immediately. Even without a conviction, the accusation is enough to jeopardize job prospects and someone's reputation. However, a conviction could result in jail term and financial penalties. It would be in both of these men's best interests to understand the legal battle they are up against and plan accordingly. Sometimes, the best plan of action is securing the assistance of a knowledgeable party who can help them in preparing their defenses, challenging the evidence and fighting for the best possible outcome.
