A husband and wife were both taken into police custody after a drug raid was conducted at their home in Illinois. Authorities say that the search of the couple’s Huntley home led to the discovery of significant quantities of drugs. As a result, the 45-year-old man faces 25 felony charges, and his wife faces 20 felony charges. Four of the man’s drug possession charges were Class X felonies.
According to reports, the drug raid was part of an investigation that had been going on for the past eight months. The Illinois Attorney General, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Rockford office and several police departments believe that the man has been heading an extensive drug dealing operation. He and his wife were both held at the McHenry County Jail on $1 million bond and $300,000 bond, respectively.
During the search and seizure, authorities allegedly seized 295 pounds of marijuana, 500 prescription painkillers, 25 grams of cocaine and at least 60 MDMA pills. Several thousand dollars in cash was also taken along with five vehicles that were described as collectible and luxury cars. Officials say that other residences that are owned by the couple may also be targeted for raids as part of the ongoing investigation.
When law enforcement agencies conduct a search and seizure at a person’s home, certain protocol must be followed.
