Drug Charges

The U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force, the Algonquin Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Crystal Lake Police Department were all involved in the investigation. Authorities say the heroin seized was worth $3,200.

The couple has been charged with endangering the life of a child and delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park. They are also facing charges for drug possession.

People who are facing drug charges may find it advisable to obtain the assistance of a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible in order to begin constructing an appropriate defense strategy. One option could be the negotiation of an agreement with the prosecutor that would involve entering a plea of guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for a reduced penalty. In some cases, the constitutionality of the search that led to the seizure of the drugs could be challenged which, if successful, could result in the evidence being inadmissible.
