Village treasurer facing drug charges after traffic stop

Police in Illinois have reported that the treasurer of a village in Cook County was taken into custody following a routine traffic stop during the evening hours of Jan. 3. The man was charged with drug possession after police say they discovered bags of heroin in his vehicle, and he was subsequently transported to a detention facility. He was released on Jan. 5 after posting a bond of $10,000.

Privileged communications in criminal judicial proceedings

Illinois residents may be aware that communications between lawyers and their clients are considered privileged, and they may also know that lawyers can face severe sanctions if they report things that they have been told by those they represent. While discussions between attorneys and their clients may be the most widely known form of privileged communication, a number of other relationships are afforded similar legal protection.
